After the injury to future Hall of Famer Alex Ovechkin, the Capitals are favorable underdogs playing away against the Panthers. While losing Ovechkin is a major blow to the team, they should still be considered one of the best teams in the league. They are tied for first in goals per game and 11th-best in goals allowed per game. The main factor for their success has come from their incredible depth. All around they have been performing well as a team and after back-to-back one-score losses to the Avalanche and Devils without Ovechkin, expect the Capitals to get it going tonight. The Panthers are in bad form going 1-5 in their last six games. This year the Panthers have been letting up too many goals, tied for the 5th most per game and it will be more of the same tonight with backup keeper Spencer Knight in goal. Knight has a 2.73 GAA and .897 SV%, compared to the Capitals' goalie Logan Thompson, who has a 2.58 GAA and .914 SV%. Expect the Capitals to rebound tonight with a win, extending the Panther's run of bad games.
