MLB

3 Picks (11 Units).

7:05PM EST: Rays ML +115 (3U).

LP: T. Rasmussen (TB).

PHI SP Zach Wheeler is as good as it gets when he's on, but he's struggled a bit on the road, posting a 4.63 ERA through 4 road starts. This play is about TB's ability to shut the Phillies offense down. TB SP Drew Rasmussen has a 2.64 ERA on the season and a 1.74 ERA through 4 starts at Home. He attacks the zone, issuing 1 walk or less in all but 1 start. That 1 start came against a familiar foe in the Yankees, and he allowed 1 ER across 5.2 IP. He hasn't completed 6 innings yet this year and that's a good thing here. The Rays bullpen is among the best in baseball and they're fresh after a day off yesterday. That bullpen was pivotal in taking 2 out of 3 in the Bronx. Philly's offense has some major Home/Away splits through the early going. They're 4th with an .805 OPS at Home but they drop to 19th with a .650 OPS on the road.

7:15PM EST: Reds ML +185 (4 Units).

LP: A. Abbot (CIN).

Andrew Abbott started this season on the IL and has allowed 1 run or less in 3 of his 4 starts this year. His most recent outing was cut short by a rain delay after 4 innings. He had a 3.79 ERA in 13 road starts last season and allowed 3 ER or less in 10 of them. Atlanta's offense plated 4 runs yesterday but were gifted a couple on what was a clear catch with 2 outs that turned into a 2 run inside the park home run. Reds OF Tyler Callihan broke his arm against the well making the "catch". The Braves have also really struggled against LHP, batting .204 with a .626 OPS. Abbott's backed by a very good top half of the Reds bullpen. Taylor Rogers has a 1.59 ERA, Tony Santillan a 1.69, and Emilio Pagan a 2.35. Of those 3 only Taylor Rogers has pitched the last 3 days and it was 4 total pitches. There's also Graham Ashcraft with a 2.2 ERA and Brent Suter with a 2.3 ERA. Those two both had yesterday off and have only pitched once in the last 4 days. Having lost 3 straight games, they have no choice but to roll out quality arms behind Abbot today.

ATL SP Chris Sale is coming off his best outing, 2 ER on 7 IP with 10 Ks at Colorado. The Rockies are just plain terrible this year and aren't hitting at Home for the first time in a long time. He has a 7.0 ERA in 2 Home Starts. He allowed 5 ER on 9 hits on 4.1 IP vs PHI and 2 ER on 6 Hits and 3 walks on 4.1 IP vs MIN.

7:40PM: Orioles ML +150 (4 Units).

LP: C. Povich (BAL).

Cade Povich has a 1.42 ERA in 2 road starts. He allowed 3ER on 4.2 IP against the Yankees in his most recent start but really deserved better. Homeplate Umpire Lance Barksdale had a rough day behind the plate calling pitches up in the zone for Povich. All in all, the Yankees had a +1.22-run factor with the way Barksdale called the game. Povich did manage it well though. Aaron Judge hit a 2-run shot in the first inning, but Povich settled in. The start prior to that he went into Washington and allowed 1 ER on 4 hits and 1 walk across 6.2 IP. Nats were swinging the bats well too. The Twins offense has struggled, plating just 15 combined runs in their last 5 games. They're batting .250 with a .648 OPS over that span. They've also been terrible against Lefties, hitting .213 with a .616 OPS. It's a good spot for Povich to pitch well and pitch deep which is important. The meat of the Orioles bullpen has had its struggles. Bryan Baker (2.57 ERA) and Keegan Akin (2.81 ERA) have been solid and their setup and closer have been elite. That's really it as far as trustworthy arms go and they're all available tonight.

MIN SP Pablo Lopez has been great, and the advanced metrics support it. Pitching to contact always leaves room for variables and he's allowed 2 runs in 3 of his 5 starts. He's pitched into the 6th in just 2 of his 5 starts as well. One of the outings he allowed less than 2 runs was 1 run on 4.1 IP at KC. Despite his success he has a 2-2 record, and the Twins are 2-3 overall in his 5 starts.
