MLB

3 Picks (9 Units)...

1:05PM EST: Marlins/Phillies Over 10 (3 Units). MIA SP Cal Quantrill has a 5.79 ERA and xERA of 6.79. He does have one decent road start against an ice-cold Braves offense but has allowed 6 and 3 runs in his 2 other starts. The Phillies offense has had some issues on the road this year but they're averaging 4.82 runs per game at Home. The Marlins bullpen is also taxed to hell after getting just 6 combined innings from their last 2 starters. Quantrill isn't known for pitching deeply either. PHI SP Taijuan Walker has a 2.3 ERA and 3.42 xERA. His luck finally ran out against SF in his last start, allowing 6 runs (4 earned) on 5 IP. Miami's offense has been respectable, ranking 10th in OPS and averaging over 4 runs per game over the last 15 days. It's also a beautiful 80°+ with 15 MPH winds blowing out to center. The ball will jump off the bats today.

4:10PM EST: White Sox ML +280 (3 Units).

CWS SP Shane Smith and BOS SP Garrett Crochet started against one another on the 13th. Boston won that game 3-1. Crochet carried a no hitter into the 7th. Shane Smith has a 2.05 ERA and Garett Crochet an xERA of 2.85. Both lineups have the advantage of having faced the starter earlier, but we feel it provides Chicago with a little more value. That was Crochet's former club so there's already some familiarity. He clearly had a little extra juice in that start too. Odds are he simply isn't as sharp today. Smith was solid, allowing 2 ER on 5 hits on 6IP. The Red Sox offense hasn't been great either. Going back their last 11 games, they've scored 10, 1, 7, 1, 3, 2, 1, 4, 1, 1, 2.

4:10PM EST: Rockies ML +120 (3 Units).

WSH SP Mackenzie Gore has a 3.52 ERA but a 5.73 ERA in 2 road starts, allowing 3 and 4 runs. He had a 4.11 ERA on the road in 2024 and a 4.87 ERA on the road in 2023. He has a 9.0 ERA in 2 career starts at Coors Field. COL SP Chase Dollander is a prospect with elite stuff. He allowed 4 ER on 5 IP in his first career start. He followed that up allowing 2 ER on 3 hits on 5.2 IP @ SD. Fernando Tatis started that game with a leadoff HR. He has allowed 2 home runs in each of his 2 starts. He also has 13 strikeouts on 10.2 IP. His high-velo fastball certainly plays at Coors Field. It's about getting settled into the MLB level and he should be more comfortable here. He's made his first career home and away starts. He's also fresh off a very good outing against a great Padres team. The nationals have never faced Dollander before either. We like him to pepper the zone early and provide some length here today.
