5 Picks (17 Units).

12PM EST: Texas/OhioState Under 47.5 (5 Units).

Arch Manning's first real test and it doesn't get much bigger than a trip to Columbus. Texas returns just 3 starters on offense and is introducing 4 new starters along their offensive line. The stadium noise factor is going to be a major issue. OSU had the #1 scoring defense a season ago and the 2nd ranked 2 years back. They've allowed less than 10 points per game at Home in each of the last 2 seasons. OSU has had to retool on defense but are mostly doing so from within. Texas had the 2nd ranked scoring defense last year and 12th ranked 2 years back. They return 6 starters, 3 linebackers and 3 DBs. Despite no starters returning up front this Texas defensive line will be one of the best in the Country. Their 2 sack leaders from last year are back. Texas's DC has been there since 2021.

12PM EST: Tennessee/Syracuse Under 51.5 (3 Units).

Tennessee returns 7 starters from the 12th ranked scoring defense from a season ago. DC Tim Banks

has been with the Volunteers since 2021. The Vols return just 3 starters on offense. They were 12th in rush rate last season and should look to lean on that ground game with a new QB. Syracuse was better offensively than they were defensively last year but HC Fran Brown is a defensive guy. He served as Georgia’s DBs coach prior to Syracuse. His starting Safeties are back and not much else on the defensive side of the ball. That experience on the backend will help keep a lid on the Vols explosives. Expect major regression from the Orange offense. They lost QB Kyle McCord to the NFL and have just 3 starters returning. They didn’t exactly light it up against great defenses last year either.

3:30PM EST: Alabama/FSU Under 48.5 (3 Units).

Alabama has one of the most experienced rosters in CFB, returning 6 starters on offense and 8 on defense. With Jalen Milroe off to the NFL it will be Junior Ty Simpson leading the Crimson Tide. He’s never started a game and has just 50 career pass attempts. FSU had a rough season last year but it’s a fresh slate and Doak Campbell stadium is still one of the most hostile venues. FSU does bring back 5 starters on the defensive side of the ball. They have a new DC which should help given last years disappointment. FSU still has 19th most talented roster in the Country. With the new QB we expect the Bama offense to struggle some. FSU is rolling out a brand new offense with just 1 starter back from last year. Playing at Home will help but not enough. Alabama had the 9th ranked scoring defense last year and that’s despite the regime change. With 8 starters back and DC Kane Wommack going into year 2 this Bama defense is set to improve.

7PM EST: Kansas State -25.5 (3 Units).

Spot play here. Kansas State coming off a tough loss against Iowa State in their season opener. They outgained ISU 383 to 313 and averaged 6.7 yards per play compared to their 4.2. Some untimely penalties and 4th down failures is what led to the loss. Their front 7 dominated the majority of that game and that's the reason we're comfortable laying the big number here. North Dakota just doesn't have the Hogs up front. It's their Home opener so the excitement will be there despite hosting the smaller program. Like them to come out with a purpose here.

7:30PM EST: Clemson -4 (5 Units).

Clemson enjoyed a nice 2024 campaign that ended with a loss to Texas in the CFB playoff. They went 10-4 overall and 7-1 in Conference Play. Dabo's stuck to his guns and continued to recruit and develop players instead of hammering the portal. It's a philosophy that at the very least provides an early season advantage against team's that have to replenish their roster early on. LSU has just 7 returning starters and led the nation in Transfer Portal Rankings. If there's a year for Clemons's roster development to matter, it's this year, as Clemson returns 8 starters on both Offense and Defense. QB Cade Klubnik enters his 3rd season as Clemson's starting QB and he made leaps and bounds from year 1 to year 2. Playing at Home this is a spot for Clemson to regain the National spotlight.
